Research and development of fuel cells and electrolyzers

The following activities take place in the Laboratory for hydrogen technologies at FESB:

  • Investigation of the operating parameters effect on performance and durability of PEM fuel cells and electrolyzers
  • Development and application of advanced tools for monitoring and diagnostics of fuel cells and electrolyzers
  • Application of machine learning in simulation of PEM electrolyzers in variable operating conditions
  • Development of advanced algorithms for control of fuel cells and electrolyzers as well as the entire hydrogen system integrated with renewable energy sources
  • Characterization of electrochemical hydrogen compressors with an objective of achieving stable and efficient operation within a wide range of pressures
  • The role of hydrogen from renewable energy sources in decarbonization of energy sector
