The impact of climate change on the coastal area

The activity focuses on research into four topics related to the coastal area and the effects of climate change on coastal regions. All components are important for the coastal population and environment:

  1. Characteristics, frequency, and intensity of atmospheric heatwaves
  2. Frequency and intensity of episodes of extreme sea levels
  3. Pollution of coastal waters
  4. Innovative methods for forecasting sea fog.

Knowledge transfer to the general population, as well as local and regional authorities, is envisaged to raise preparedness and help local and regional authorities develop prevention and mitigation measures.
